How Many Fruits and Vegetables Should I Eat?

Just how many fruits and vegetables do you need to eat and what is a serving size?

 According to The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the average adult should consume 1.5 to 2.5 cups of fruit and 2 to 4 cups of vegetables a day. The daily recommended servings change depending on your age, sex and activity level.  For example, if you are 51+ women who is moderately active, you should eat 1.5 cups of fruit and 2.5 cups of vegetables.  Download the CDC eBook to learn more.

Serving Size Examples

 1 Cup of Fruit

- 1 Small Apple

- 1 Large Orange

- 1 Large Banana

- 8 Large Strawberries

- 32 Grapes

 

1 Cup of Vegetables

- 1 Large Sweet Potato

- 12 Baby Carrots

- 10 Broccoli Florets

- 1 Cup of  Lettuce and 1/2 cup of other vegetables
